AKA Mighty Ducks on Film

Mighty Ducks on Film started with a film camera, a hockey game, and no place to share what I was capturing.

I'd been shooting film photos at Ducks games for a while before it hit me: why not build a space for them? I sat on the idea for a month or two, then finally committed and launched the Mighty Ducks on Film Instagram in January 2024. From there, something clicked. As the season progressed, so did my obsession with shooting and posting, and the account started to grow in ways I never anticipated.

That growth opened doors I couldn't have imagined. The Ducks organization took notice and welcomed me in through Women in Sports events, preseason content creator opportunities, vending partnerships, and more. Fans started reaching out asking if I'd ever consider making merch. The answer turned out to be yes, and it has taken off from there.

What began as film photos with nowhere to go has become a community I genuinely treasure. Mighty Ducks on Film has given me so much, and getting to give something back to the fans who made it possible means everything.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • For film photos, I started on a point-and-shoot Minolta AF telephoto. Now I mostly use my Canon Rebel GII with a 50mm lens.

    For digital photos, I use a Canon EOS 4000D with a 50mm lens in sports mode.

  • Honestly, I’ve gotten them all from Amazon!

  • Have fun with it and don’t take yourself too seriously! Be okay with taking 100 photos to get 10 good ones.

  • The list is kind of endless but Dostal for how photogenic he is, Zelly because he is constantly moving and it’s a fun challenge, Cutter because he’s my favorite player, Mason because he’s always silly at the end of warmups, and any new players we acquire because I love learning a new routine!

  • Getting a signed stick from Cutter at warmups without asking for it has to be one of the top ones! Otherwise, I love the fact that the team has made me some of my best friends!
